Entry 3 - Busy day

In between chattering with my linkshell I decided to have a few adventures today. Let's see how I did...

I realised I hadn't been taking very varied pictures so far so I snapped this Chocobo in the stables in Windurst. Unfortunately I'm too low level to earn the ability to ride them yet so I'm stuck in the same area. It didn't stop me admiring them from afar.

Ahh! It's a Crawler. I hate these so much - in fact they're the only enemy in the whole of Sarutabaruta I won't attack. This is because they have really powerful poison which tends to kill me even long after defeating them. They are really cute looking and bright, like fat little trains. The picture is a little dark since for some reason I seem to take most pictures late at night.

After my random creature portraits I decided I felt brave enough to try out Mission 2 again. It's in a similar set of ruins to the last one but much, much harder. Just when I hadn't died in a while I found this is what happens when you stumble upon a bunch of higher level goblins (and a balloon, not sure how he got there) who like the taste of Mithra blood.

The goblins soon wandered away but the balloon stayed to taunt my corpse. I must remember to go back when I'm stronger and make him pay.

Because I really wanted to complete this ^&%"*" mission, I charged around smiting things to level up. Eventually I attained level 9. Hurrah!

No matter how much time I spend hunting out here, there are always great new things to see. I loved the bright crescent moon that was out that night so it became a screenshot candidate.

I'd been using my level 5 job ability for a while now but hadn't thought to take a snap of it. What it does is focus my energy so my next strike is extra powerful. It also looks rather cool. Unfortunately it didn't come out too well as a screenshot today, perhaps next time I'll be quicker.

As I was resting later I noticed a group of Mandragora had mysteriously surrounded me in a triangle. One started to run as I was setting up the picture. I wonder what they were planning before I noticed them? o.O

After killing hundreds of goblins yesterday I realised I had not once grabbed a shot of the spell "Dia" that they often cast. I loved the rainbow light effect so that was my next task!

Trying to pluck up courage for another brush with death in the ruins for mission 2, I grabbed a picture of the pretty Mithra NPC outside. I like her armour, but since I'm a monk I need the freedom given with my martial arts outfit.

A little work outside the ruins got me up to level 10 and a new job quality - counter! Now I felt brave enough to go ahead with my mission in the ruins. I was so afraid but desperate to get it done since I wanted Rank 2 status to be able to get rid of the mountain of crystals I was accumulating in my mog house. This time around I am pleased to say I was able to complete the mission with a little help from an adorable Tarutaru called Verdandi who cast "Protect" on me when I got triple teamed by goblins. I also saved a dying warrior's life by attacking the bats that were sucking his blood so I was very pleased. After this success there was only one thing standing between me and Rank 2, and it was Mission 3!

Whew, a mission that didn't involve ruins or goblins. I have noticed that Windurst missions are mainly based around spying and sneaking whilst Sand'oria missions seem to feature a lot of killing. Anyway, for mission 3 ("For the sake of peace" is what it was called) I had to sneak around an area I'd never been to before heavily populated by various Yagudo and other assorted creatures. I had to locate a specific pair of Yagudo and hand them food and drink. They were both in completely different places and I didn't think to buy a map of this area in advance so I was working blindly whilst fending off the other monsters around me. Everyone else had friends with them but it wasn't too bad solo.

I succeeded first time in Mission 3 (yippee) and when I got back to Windurst I was awarded Rank 2 status (and was so unprepared that I managed to drop the keyboard in my excitement to get a screenshot). I dumped some of the 50+ crystals I had at this point on the guard and accepted Mission 4. But I shall save that adventure for another day...
