Final Fantasy XI Playdiary

Entry 5 - Random things

With a busy weekend and then work, I didn't have much time at all to play. Here's an odd update with various pictures taken over the lost days.

When I was weaker and darkness fell on the plains, I would start to see distant lights of campfires and knew that Goblins or Yagudo were close by. Tonight I was feeling confident and raided one campsite set up by some Goblins, killing them all and taking their wares. I still harbour a grudge for the misery they have caused me in the past. The fire was beautiful up close and attracted more Goblins, so I didn't stay long.

As dawn approached I saw a rare sight, a Magicked Bones enchanted skeleton. I ran right up and attacked it recklessly and was fortunately more than a match for it. When it died it made an amusing tinkling sound as the falling bones rattled together. The green exclamation mark by my name indicates I am looking for a party to join to fight harder monsters. I was not successful at this time of day.

Wandering back up to Taronghi Canyon I spotted Jenny! She is a regular on many messageboards I visit and a very high level player - she is level 60 in her main job. It turned out she was training in one of her other jobs so when I strolled up and said hello so asked me to join her for a while. I accepted and we ran off through the canyon to find something to kill, but ran into a Yagudo Persecutor. Killing it was risky but we managed, however it poisoned Jenny and she lost her grip on life shortly after it fell. She headed back to Windurst to revive and I sadly carried on. We decided hunting without a healer wasn't too smart ^^;.

As I explored the other side of the canyon I saw a fantastic skeleton half buried in the ground. The skull part alone was taller than me. It was even bigger than the wild Dhalmel I had seen before. What on earth could have left behind such a skeleton? Perhaps it was time to head back - if an ancestor of this thing walked by I would be finished rather quickly.

Back to the lonely ruins I wandered and eventually scrambled to level 12. Soon I would be able to wear my new robe, but not just yet. Since I was alone in the ruins I decided to practise some of my expressions in the hopes of being able to use them in public sometime. I looked quite silly.

Apologies once again for the dark picture. I love this pose though - bring it on :O

Here I captured myself swaggering like a fool. Notice also the new trousers I had bought, along with some boots. I really like them.

A greeting pose. Dahahaha.

Back in town I ran around taking pictures of NPCs. Elvaan women are so elegant, but I like who I am :)

I took a picture of this guy because of his name (someone in the IRC channel I chat on is called Maiko). He is a Windurst gate guard (denoted by the "W.W." after his name) and loves it when I give him crystals. He casts Signet spell on me whenever I go hunting so I can earn points for my nation in the ongoing competition between Windurst, Bastok and Sand'oria (we're winning, nyahaha).

Finally, back to beating up monsters to make some headway to level 13 and my new robe. Next time I play I hope to have a more structured adventure, hopefully with a party in some unexplored territory >:).
